Medal Tests are a great way of

  • assessing your or your child's progress

  • giving you focus and an aim with your lessons

But above all they give you a wonderful sense of achievement.​

Introductory Award

Where the work begins

Introductory awards through PDS (examining body  UKA Dance)

An Introductory award can be taken in our classes and their is one for each dance you learn.​

You will be expected to know the PDS basic routines in the dance using figures from the UKA provisional syllabus which will be taught in class.

We run 2 - 3 awards test days a year and once book and paid your fee you will expected to demonstrate the figures learn either solo or with a partner 

  • Using correct alignment

  • Understanding the timing and rhythm of the dance

  • Basic foot positions

  • Basic foot work

You will receive your results approx. 2 weeks after your test and the awards will be sent out approx. 6 weeks later.

Under 6yrs Awards

We have a great Uni-ted Club were children can learn small dance routines, these are encouragement awards, teaching the value of learning and performing

7 years and over

We also have a Round the World Club were children can learn small dance routines, and information on dances from across the globe. These are encouragement awards, teaching the value of learning and performing

  • Your movement of legs arms and body

  • Your presentation

Performers Award

Advanced awards through PDS (examining body  UKA Dance)

You will be expected to dance the routine in costume following International rules and using UKA syllabus figures and will be awarded your trophy for being able to preform the dance with a partner showing you understand;

  • the dances style

  • the dances technique

  • timing and rhythm of the dances

  • with good posture 

  • Your movement of legs arms and body

  • Your presentation

Theory Award

Advanced awards through PDS (examining body  UKA Dance) 

  • Theory Award 1 - 20 questions on the Waltz

  • Theory Award 2 - 20 questions on the Quickstep

  • Theory Award 3 - 20 questions on the Tango

  • Theory Award 4 - 20 questions on the Slow Foxtrot

There is no demonstration in this examination it is pure theory and ideal for the student wanting to move on to teaching. You will be expected to understand the basic theory of the dance taken from the UKA syllabus and will be awarded your medal for being able to discus this theory with your examiner

Choreography Awards

You will be expected to choreograph a International style routine in one dance using UKA syllabus figures and will be awarded your trophy for being able to demonstrate the figures solo or with a partner showing you understand;

  • posture and styling for each dance

  • Your movement of legs arms and body

  • Your presentation
